Season 1, episode 1: “The Dragon’s Call”
Merlin’s arrival at Camelot.
Look at how happy he is, he sees this new land with all of the excitement and bustle of the city, and he’s just looking about in wonder, and all I can think is you don’t know do you. You don’t know that you’ll lose your girlfriend, kill Gwen’s dad, kill Arthur’s dad, kill Agrivaine, kill Morgana, lose your dad, and watch your boyfriend die in your arms and be told that your magic can do nothing.
You don’t know.
"There is a kind of crying I hope you have not experienced, and it is not just crying about something terrible that has happened, but a crying for all of the terrible things that have happened, not just to you but to everyone you know and to everyone you don’t know and even the people you don’t want to know, a crying that cannot be diluted by a brave deed or a kind word, but only by someone holding you as your shoulders shake and your tears run down your face."
